Gordon Barnes ( yes, our Gordon Barnes) was chosen as Aurora's Citizen of the Year, 2010 ... and recognized as such at the Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony in the Council Chambers at Aurora Town Hall on June 2, 2010.
This is a well-deserved recognition of the many things Gordon has been involved in, in Aurora, for the last 35 years.
Not the least of his contributions to the Town of Aurora has been his leadership and vision with the
Aurora Community Arboretum.
As you may note from the photographs below, he hasn't changed.
One photo , taken on June 5 shows him at the Arboretum booth at the Street Festival, in his green Arboretum shirt. And there's a photo of him on June 9, overseeing, hands-on, the planting of trees in the Arboretum.
