Seeking Public Relations Volunteer

The Aurora Community Arboretum is seeking a volunteer Public Relations person

ACA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the establishment, growth and maintenance of an Arboretum and including restoration of diverse ecological zones in Aurora’s largest mixed use park. This 100 acre park is being developed for the enjoyment and education of Aurora residents and visitors. We operate under a current 10 year community partnership agreement (running to end 2028) with the Town of Aurora.

Skills and Experience

  • have knowledge of the audience/community, building positive relationships
  • have a commitment to goals and objectives of the ACA
  • be willing to contribute and learn
  • be able to work as part of a team
    • *The PR person will be part of an events committee that will include 2-3 board members


  • Point person for event ideas
  • Liaise with all print and social media, to promote ACA & its events
  • Promote ACA by planning events (with committee*) for general public (except planting)
  • Curate website and supplement volunteer Facebook posts as required
    • add photos of flora and fauna, events
  • Draft and publish Newsletter – at least quarterly (final review by Executive)
  • Build contacts with local schools to encourage programming and volunteers
  • Attend networking events/meetings to promote ACA
  • Provide recommendations to the ACA Board for recruiting future Board members and soliciting potential donors
