Most people acknowledge that Climate Change is happening today and has been underway for many years.
It is a complex subject, but just because it's complex doesn't mean we cannot all learn more about what is happening in our world and what the implications are for the future.
We must learn more and do more, each of us, so that we can have a cumulative effect that will modify the changes that are underway. Ultimately we need to 'Change the Change' so that our Earth can return to the climate conditions that allowed us to flourish and prosper. That will not be easy, but it must happen, and we must start now.
This page is a small start in the process. We have a few links and we will develop more. Join us.
Global Warming. What can I do?
We each need to start taking responsibility for our own
ecological footprint. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Things to do that cost nothing (many actually save you money).
..Turn down your thermostat in winter. Turn it up in summer.
..Turn off lights.
..Don't idle your vehicle.
..Walk or bike instead of driving when you can.
..Eat locally produced food.
..Plan at least one meat-less day per week.
..Write your MP ( you don't even need a stamp) and encourage
him or her to take meaningful action on climate change.
..Phone your Council members. Encourage them to take action.
Cheap and simple things to do.
..Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents.
..Seal drafts around your house.
..Plant a tree.
..Take public transit instead of driving.
..Buy or rent a copy of 'An Inconvenient Truth' and show it
to your friends and neighbours.
Major projects.
..Have a Home Energy Audit.
..Increase insulation.
..If your furnace, AC or appliances are older than 10 years,
look into the efficiency of some newer models.
..If replacing a vehicle, choose a fuel-efficient option.
Check the hybrids.
