My name is Tom Yates. I live in Aurora, am a Director of the Arboretum, the Webmaster for the website and an amateur photographer. Photography made me aware of the Arboretum and my website experience got me involved.
I photograph in the Arboretum with several objectives in mind.
One objective is to record the activities of the volunteers who are helping make the Arboretum grow. They make a great story and the photographs are used on the website, in our Newsletter, and in other publicity.
Another objective is to record the Arboretum as it changes through the seasons and years. We dig, we plant, we water and mulch, and the Arboretum changes. The Arboretum also has lots of natural space with wildflowers, birds, etc. They too are great to record in photography.
And I photograph for the pleasure of being there, taking a walk, seeing new (and old) things, making photographs.
